OPPORTUNITIES
CSUMB Masters' students: If you are interested in the Environmental Science Master of Science Program and would like to do research related to the work we do in the lab, please contact me for more information and let me know your ideas/interests.
Undergraduate Students Researchers: opportunities for students in BIO or AGPS majors interested in completing independent studies, honors-level capstone projects. Additionally paid summer internships and/or research positions available based on funding availability. Potential sources of funding through UROC or ARI, though additional funded or volunteer opportunities may be available, so if you are interested, please contact me.
CSUMB REU Summer Research Opportunities: If you are interested in studying microbes at the intersection of Coastal and Agricultural ecosystems, please contact me. We have summer research opportunities for undergraduate researchers through the Monterey Bay REU Program
High school and Community College students: Early exposure to research: Early exposure to research will give you better understanding of what it’s like to be a scientist (versus what you think it may be like!). This type of opportunity would allow you to witness the practical applications of scientific concepts you have learned in the classroom, and let you experience the EXCITEMENT and CHALLENGES of doing scientific research without having predetermined answers, and ultimately, give you a better idea as to whether or not you may want to pursue a career in STEM. If you are interested gaining experience in plant and microbial research, contact me. No previous research experience is required, but prospective students must demonstrate excitement for science!
